Although some homeowners do prefer to install the system themselves so that they know exactly what is being recorded, many are opting to hire a professional because of some of the more technical components required.
How dare some people hack into these important security cameras?
That takes away from my ability to video myself at all hours of the day if I want! This shouldn’t even be illegal! It should just be something you’re forbidden from uploading unless you’ve edited out your face or whatever!
I can see both sides of this. I think it’s great that the security cameras are being watched to catch people breaking into homes, but it should be illegal to post the videos online. That seems like a good compromise for issues like these.
I don’t think anyone should be allowed to hack into someone else’s security camera regardless of whether they’re posting what is recorded online or not. Sharing private videos without consent strictly violates privacy laws and is unethical regardless if someone else shares them or not afterward.

I don’t think it’s legal for people to hack into other people’s security cameras. I know that these are common in many homes now, but if someone were to hack into your home security system, who knows what could happen.
It would be fine if the hacker didn’t post anything online or distribute any footage that was recorded. That way, only the homeowner would have access to it.
Who cares whether other people share these videos? If you’re not doing anything wrong and there isn’t a video of you doing something illegal while the camera is recording, then how does it matter whether someone else has access to what’s being recorded? It’s a pointless debate, in my opinion.

Someone hacking into a security system should not even be up for debate as there is no reason that this should ever happen.
